Zafra - Villafranca de los Barros

The stage of the Ruta Vía de la Plata between Zafra and Villafranca de los Barros runs for approximately 21.5 kilometres, with an elevation gain of 230 metres. It is designed for gravel bikes and is of moderate difficulty, featuring track sections in good condition that alternate with low-traffic minor roads.

The town of Los Santos de Maimona is crossed along the way, and special care is necessary there at the intersection with the EX-364 road, due to low visibility. This point requires careful attention from both cyclists and local traffic. Open landscapes with vineyards and cultivation fields typical of the region predominate along the course, making pedalling a pleasant experience despite the terrain’s waves.

The entrance to Villafranca de los Barros also presents a section on which caution should be exercised, due to the incorporation of rural roads to urban roads with traffic. Although this is not an especially long stage, the accumulated drop and technical points cause it to be rated as moderate. Ideal for those looking for a day of pedalling with a certain challenge within the peaceful context of the Ruta Vía de la Plata.
