This stage of the Ruta Via de la Plata starts at La Vega (in Riosa) and ends in Santa Eulalia, in the nearby municipality of Morcín, in the heart of Asturias. Covering about 8.5 kilometres with an elevation gain of just 41 metres, it is an easy stage, ideal for road bikes and perfect for those looking for a quiet ride that requires little effort.

The route mainly runs along tarmacked local roads with light traffic, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience. Along the way, you pass through a typical Asturian landscape: green meadows, small forests, and villages that preserve the area’s traditional architecture. The smooth terrain means you can ride at a steady pace for most of the stage.

Morcín, your destination, is a parish council with strong livestock and gastronomic roots, and is mainly known for its traditional Afuega’l Pitu cheese. Its proximity to the Monsacro (sacred mountain) makes it a point of great scenic interest.

Santa Eulalia de Morcín (Morcín) - La Vega (Riosa)

This stage of the Ruta Vía de la Plata begins in Santa Eulalia (in the parish council of Morcín). It ends in La Vega, in the municipality of Riosa, covering approximately 8.5 kilometres with an elevation gain of 208 metres. It is an easy route for road bikes, despite the constant uphill slope in a good part of the stage.

You ride along tarmacked local roads with light traffic, allowing you to enjoy the scenery in a relaxed way. The landscape becomes more mountainous as you ride towards Riosa, offering increasingly spectacular views of the Asturian countryside with its meadows, wooded slopes and scattered villages.

Riosa, your destination, is a small but beautiful village located at the foot of the mythical Alto del Angliru, one of the toughest mountain passes in professional cycling and a regular finish line in the Tour of Spain. Its natural surroundings and mining history make it a point of interest for anyone travelling this historic route.
