Although there are no significant hazards during the stage, take extra care at cycle-specific signalised crossings, as they may pose some risk if you do not reduce your speed.

You leave Gijón along an urban bike lane, which joins the greenway of La Camocha heading south, making for an easy departure from the city. However, take extra care at cycle-specific signalised crossings, as some may involve danger from vehicle traffic. As you leave the city, the landscape becomes more undulating.
The route mainly runs along minor roads with light traffic, crossing wooded areas and typical Asturian landscapes. The accumulated elevation gain is distributed throughout the stage, with some short but demanding ramps. The combination of tranquillity and beautiful scenery makes this stage an enjoyable experience for road cycling enthusiasts.
