Baños de Montemayor - Puerto de Béjar
The mountain bike stage between Baños de Montemayor and Puerto de Béjar, covering approximately 8 kilometres with a total elevation gain of 255 metres, is a short but demanding route, ideal for riders who enjoy gradual climbs in a natural setting. Much of the route runs along a Greenway, making the ride easier despite the increase in altitude.
After leaving Baños de Montemayor, the route ascends along the former railway track, crossing viaducts in a beautiful mountain landscape. The surface is stable and well-conditioned, allowing you to focus on enjoying the surroundings as you make your way towards the province of Salamanca.
Puerto de Béjar, at the top of the valley, offers spectacular views on arrival and the satisfaction of having completed a short but intense climb. It is a perfect stage for a mountain bike day in the heart of the Ruta Vía de la Plata.
Puerto de Béjar - Baños de Montemayor
This stage of the Ruta Via de la Plata, covering 8.5 kilometres with an elevation gain of 43 metres, passes through hilly terrain that is ideal for mountain bikes. The route begins at the Puerto de Béjar at an altitude of 1,100 metres and then enters a natural landscape of forest trails and rural roads. Pine and oak trees, along with rock formations and small streams, offer a visually rich and pleasant experience.
As you progress, the terrain gradually slopes downward, favouring a smoother pace for riders. The last few kilometres are mostly a descent, although in some sections there are tarmacked roads, especially approaching Baños de Montemayor towards the end of the stage. Baños de Montemayor, known for its hot springs, is an excellent opportunity to rest and get your strength back after your efforts along the way.
This stage is classified as easy, so it is ideal for all types of riders with mixed sections of terrain and panoramic views.
