The stage between La Pola de Gordón and Puente de los Fierros (Lena) runs for approximately 38 kilometres with an elevation gain of 347 metres. It is a moderately difficult section, adapted for gravel bikes. It represents a transition day transition between the mountains of León and the Principality of Asturias, and the landscape becomes increasingly green and rugged you ride northwards.

The route alternates between dirt tracks in good condition, short tarmac stretches and country roads through mid-mountain areas. Although there are no particularly steep inclines, the route profile is undulating, with some prolonged climbs that require steady pedalling and pacing yourself. It is an ideal stage to enjoy the tranquil valleys and forests, with views that are typical of the Cantabrian coastal mountain range.

During the stage, riders pass through small villages and areas of light traffic, allowing them to really enjoy the surroundings. The arrival at Puente de los Fierros marks the start of a more abrupt landscape, a prelude to the more mountainous stages that lie ahead on the final part of the Ruta Vía de la Plata.

The stage between Puente de los Fierros (Lena) and La Pola de Gordón, with an elevation gain of 955 metres over about 38 kilometres, is one of the most demanding days for gravel bikers on the northern section of the Ruta Vía de la Plata. This challenging stage combines the beauty of the Asturian countryside with a big physical challenge, primarily due to differences in height over a relatively short distance.

From the start at Puente de los Fierros, the ascent is constant, with long, demanding stretches that pass areas of dense vegetation along country roads and old mountain paths to the plateau of León province. The terrain varies between compact dirt tracks and stony roads, so it is advisable to have good cycling technique and physical fitness to ride this stage. The tranquil surroundings make up for the effort, with spectacular views of the valleys and mountains of the Cantabrian mountain range.

As you go higher and the toughest stretches are left behind, the landscape opens up to the highlands of León, allowing for a smoother ride in the last few kilometres before reaching La Pola de Gordón. This is a stage for experienced riders seeking an authentic and demanding experience.
