This stage of the Via de la Plata Route connects Seville with Santiponce over approximately 10 kilometres with an elevation gain of 56 metres. It is a short, easy stage, ideal for starting or finishing a longer ride or enjoying a quiet ride.

The departure from Seville is along a bike lane, which makes it easy to ride through the city. After leaving the built-up area, the route continues along well-maintained tracks and roads that are suitable for mountain bikes, although no great technical skill is required.

The route takes you to Santiponce, home to the archaeological site of Italica, a Roman city founded by Scipio Africanus (a Roman general and statesman) in 206 BC. It is known as the first Roman city on the Iberian Peninsula and was home to the Emperors Trajan and Hadrian. This makes the stage an excellent option for combining sport and cultural tourism near the main city of Andalusia.

Santiponce - Sevilla

This stage runs from Santiponce to Seville, covering approximately 10 kilometres with an elevation gain of 45 metres. It is a short and easy stage, ideal for both beginner riders and those seeking a transition stage.

Starting from Santiponce, the route begins near the archaeological site of Italica, one of the jewels of the Roman presence in the Iberian Peninsula. The paths and urban stretches here are ideal for connecting with the Seville bike lane network, which makes entry into the city easier.

The arrival in Seville gives access to its extensive bike lane network. However, keep an eye out at cycle-enabled crossings, as many coincide with intersections with vehicle traffic. Overall, the stage is a pleasant one that combines culture, sport and accessibility. The city of Seville as a destination makes the route even more interesting thanks to its enormous appeal.
