This stage on the Ruta Vía de la Plata between Grimaldo and Galisteo runs for approximately 31.5 kilometres through a mainly rural landscape, alternating between dirt tracks in good condition and agricultural roads and tarmacked minor roads. With a total elevation gain of 238 metres, the route profile is undulating with no strong gradients, ideal for cyclists of average fitness level.

The route crosses typical Extremadura grasslands, grazing areas and small farms, so rider can enjoy an authentic and tranquil landscape away from vehicle traffic. The terrain, although generally firm, can be tricky when it rains due to the accumulation of mud in places, which adds a certain technical challenge to the experience

This section combines nature and history and is an excellent option along the northern part of the Ruta Vía de la Plata for riders who seek a variety of landscapes and continuous pedalling without too much effort.

Galisteo - Grimaldo

This stage on the Ruta Vía de la Plata runs from Galisteo to Grimaldo over 31.5 kilometres with a total elevation gain of 431 metres. The route consists of a series of gentle gradients -especially in the second half of the stage-, which makes it a physical challenge without being excessively hard. It is a good option for cyclists with experience in middle-distance routes and a variety of terrains.

The departure from Galisteo, a walled town of great historic value, is an attractive start to the day. As you make progress, the route runs along rural roads, dirt tracks and tarmacked sections with light traffic and crosses typical landscapes of Extremadura province such as grasslands and crop fields. The terrain, although mostly firm, can become a bit more technical if it has rained recently.

The arrival in Grimaldo marks the end of a varied stage with a certain level of physical effort for gravel bike enthusiasts who like natural settings with few urbanised areas. We recommend taking some provisions, as there are not many refreshments points along the way.
