Medina de las Torres - Zafra
This stage of the Ruta Vía de la Plata runs from Medina de las Torres to the town of Zafra, covering approximately 11 kilometres with a total elevation gain of 46 metres. It is an easy stage, ideal for gravel bikes. The terrain is mostly flat, with gentle slopes that allow you to ride at a consistent but comfortable pace.
The route runs along rural roads and dirt tracks in good condition, ideal for enjoying the agricultural environment characteristic of this part of the province of Badajoz. Railway tracks are crossed on several occasions along the route, so take extra care at these points, as some level crossings lack barriers or flashing lights.
Zafra, one of the major towns in southern Extremadura, is an excellent place to rest. Explore its rich historical heritage, featuring the Alcázar de los Duques de Feria and the Plaza Grande (main square) The combination of technical simplicity and excellent scenery makes this stage accessible and enjoyable.
