The Route by Motorbike

The N-630 brings together all the attractions that bikers seek: gastronomy, contrasting scenery, heritage, cultural diversity, a magnificent range of services, fantastic roads… and much more!

This legendary road (along with the A66 motorway) runs from Seville to Gijón –and vice versa– offering a veritable journey through time. One of the oldest roads in Spain, the Vía de la Plata was the backbone of communication during the Roman Empire and, even today, its continues to be one of the major routes linking the north and south of the Iberian Peninsula.

While Americans may boast of their Route 66, in Spain we have a highway that, along its almost 1,000 kilometres running through 4 autonomous communities and 7 provinces, creates a fabulous route embracing several World Heritage cities, legendary mountain passes and ever-changing scenery that ranges from the fields of Andalusia to the heights of the Cantabrian Mountains, passing through the picturesque vistas of the Castilian plateau.

Without a doubt, this is one of the most complete and varied routes to enjoy on a motorbike or scooter, not just during the high season, but practically during 365 days of the year. The Vía de la Plata Route is one of the great landmarks of European motorcycle tourism.

Passport for motorcycle travellers

One of the incentives on your journey is to get your Passport for Motorcycle Travellers stamped at the way stages along the route. You can request one for free HERE.

The Vía de la Plata Route Moto Passport gives access to discounts in partner establishments along the Vía de la Plata Route and allows you to participate in an annual draw of weekend accommodation for two people in one of the places along this attractive route.

To participate in the annual draw, the passport must have at least 10 of its boxes stamped. Passports that have all the boxes stamped will automatically receive a free diploma and prize.

Motorbike Friendly

The Cooperation Network of Towns on the Ruta de la Plata has created a MOTORBIKE FRIENDLY CLUB to publicize the leisure and accommodation possibilities available to motorcycle touring enthusiasts along the Ruta Vía de la Plata.

It is a logo that identifies hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions that provide special protocols and services for bikers.

In addition to providing complete information on enjoying the Vía de la Plata Route on your motorbike or scooter, the partner establishments of the MOTORBIKE FRIENDLY CLUB will make tracks available to bikers for use on GPS devices and direct links for navigation on smartphones. Information on roads of interest and biking routes are likewise provided, with an indication of nearby service stations, specialized stores and possible guided tours, in addition to information on the main tourist resources in the area.

Moreover, the establishments providing accommodation will offer users a secure place where they can park their motorcycles safely at night, as well as an updated weather forecast that helps travellers establish an optimal road map with the aim of improving their safety and the planning of their trips.

Affiliated Establishments

The affiliated establishments will also offer additional free services, promotions and special discounts or complementary gifts to bikers staying overnight who are holders of the Ruta Vía de la Plata Passport.

In the case of restaurants, these will facilitate picnic packs or takeaways, which are very practical for many bikers who prefer to eat en route and minimize lost time, gaining hours on the road while, at the same time, making lunch stops at designated places on the journey. They will also have parking areas near the establishment and lockers or secure places to store biker clothing and equipment. These two aspects also form part of the MOTORBIKE FRIENDLY protocol of tourist information centres.
